Doggie Bone Treat Recipes

These two dog treat recipes contain whole wheat dried skimmed milk and eggs. The skimmed milk and eggs provide valuable proteins, vitamins and minerals. The whole wheat provides carbohydrates and fibre.

Doggie Bones Treat Recipe 1

Ingredients
Whole Wheat Flour - 2 ¼ cups
Dry skimmed milk – ½ cup
Egg – 1 large
Brown sugar – 1 tbs
Vegetable Oil – ½ cup
Water – ½ cup (hot)

Directions
Combine all the ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Blend together well into dough. Knead for 3 minutes.
Dust rolling surface and rolling pin with flour. Roll dough to @ ¼ - ½ an inch thick. Use bone shaped cookie cutter to cut out portions and place on baking sheet. Bake in preheated 300 degree oven for 30 minutes. Cool on wire rack.

Doggie Bones Treat Recipe 2

Ingredients
Whole Wheat Flour – 1 cup
Baking Flour – 1 cup
Wheat Germ – ½ cup
Dry Skimmed Milk – ½ cup
Egg – 1 large
Vegetable Shortening – 3 tbs
Brown Sugar – 1 tsp
Salt – ½ tsp
Water 1/3 cup

Directions
In a large bowl, mix flour, wheat germ, milk, shortening sugar and salt until crumbly texture. Mix in egg and water. Dust rolling surface and pin with flour. Knead the dough until it has achieved smooth texture. Roll dough to @ ½ inch thickness. Cut out portions with bone shaped cutter. Place on cookie sheet (spray sheet with non-stick spray prior to adding bones). Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for ½ an hour. Cool on wire rack.
